ACAPMA is the National Registered Organisation representing fuel wholesale, fuel distribution and fuel retail operators in Australia

About ACAPMA

The Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association. ACAPMA is the national industry body that champions the reasonable interests of all the businesses that operate in the fuel supply chain – from refinery gate to service station forecourt.

The association activity is geared towards achieving this through meaningful engagement with all Australian Governments on regulatory issues affecting the industry so that the community’s expectations of our industry are comprehensively accommodated at least cost to market participants (and ultimately  customers).

ACAPMA supports the industry via the delivery of a range of business support services that are specifically designed for the fuel industry, including: employment compliance, industrial relations, safety compliance, environmental compliance and workforce skills.

Most importantly, ACAPMA is a staunch supporter of the Australian fuel industry. The association works to promote increased stakeholder understanding of the way our industry operates and the fact that, for the most part, the industry comprises of Australian businesses (of all sizes), that are diligently working around the clock to ensure that the transport fuel needs of all Australians are met in an economically viable and ecologically sustainable manner.

ACAPMA is the voice of fuel distributors, fuel wholesalers and fuel retailers as well as the equipment suppliers, contractors and service providers to this essential industry.

ACAPMA Activity

ACAPMA’s activity focuses on the objectives of protecting the vitality of existing business and helping members capitalise on emerging business opportunities.

PUBLIC POLICIES

Under the direction of the ACAPMA Board the ACAPMA Team undertakes activities, delivers services and advocates on behalf of the industry within the parameters set by the ACAPMA Public Policies.

The ACAPMA Public Policies to guide the advocacy activities of the Association at a high-level (as opposed to specific positions on individual issues) and have been developed to be wholly consistent with the Association’s Constitution.

COMPETITION PROTECTION

ACAPMA activities often bring direct and indirect market competitors together.  Such contact is strictly managed in accordance with the ACAPMA Competition & Consumer Act Compliance Statement.

MEMBER SERVICES

ACAPMA Members benefit from a variety of activities, events, support and programs offered by ACAPMA

ADVOCACY

ACAPMA works between the industry and various Australian governments to ensure that government policy and regulation strikes a balance between the genuine needs of the Australian community and the maintenance of an economically strong industry.

Given the diversity of the membership base, ACAPMA strives to assemble an aggregate whole-of-industry perspective on key public policy and market regulations – with a view to providing policymakers and regulators with meaningful industry insights that are directly relevant to issues under consideration.

As a result of this wide variance in the market propositions (and market presence) of individual market participants, ACAPMA’s aggregate whole-of-industry perspective should not be taken as necessarily being wholly representative of the position of any individual fuel retailer.

ACAPMA regularly engages with Governments & political parties and authorities on issues ranging from:
» National competition policy and retail fuel pricing
» Safety of fuel transport and fuel retail operations
» Environmental performance of the fuels industry
» Employment law
» Alternative fuels market development

Poorly considered regulation has the potential to lessen the value of the industry to the Australian economy and place the employment of more than 54,000 Australians in jeopardy.

In short the principal purpose of ACAPMA’s advocacy activity is to guard against unjustified regulation that threatens jobs and places unnecessary upward pressure on retail fuel prices for Australian motorists.
